Attention, ALL certified staff who will be returning for the 2012-13 school year! Here's an opportunity to take a FREE class that will teach you how to use the AKCIS system to develop PLCPs (Personalized Learning and Career Plans) for students. We will be using this system DISTRICT-WIDE next year, so it is definitely in your best interest to begin learning about it now!
Our CTE grant will cover the cost of the credit, and you may use this course toward re-certification requirements. This means the course is FREE OF CHARGE to you, in terms of $ out of pocket! It's on TUESDAY nights from 5:00-7:30 First class is Tuesday, April 3rd Last class is Tuesday, May 8th Need more information? Check out the flyer. To register, call or email Tammy BY APRIL 2nd to confirm your intent to take the class. DOWNLOAD REGISTRATION INFORMATION HERE With only one week left until testing, teachers and students should be feeling pretty good about student mastery of GLEs. These last several days are a great opportunity to help students brush up on test-taking skills. Don't forget about the NEW practice tests available on the EED website. Discovery Education assessment tools are also available and allow you to create your own assessments targeting specific GLEs.
Please be diligent in reminding students about the policy on electronic devices during the coming days! Tuesday, April 3: READING test (SBA & HSGQE) Wednesday, April 4: WRITING test (SBA & HSGQE) Thursday, April 5: MATH test (SBA & HSGQE) Friday, April 6: SCIENCE test (Grades 4, 8, & 10 only) Questions about testing? Contact your building administrator about schedules and general testing queries. For specific testing questions, contact Tammy at 8533 or tvanwyhe@crsd.us. Attention, all CRSD teachers! At the recent ASTE conference, members of the CRSD team learned about an exciting opportunity to learn and grow through the Discovery Education Network (DEN). Members of the DEN have the opportunity to participate in community forums, gain access to additional resources, and develop leadership skills by participating in a nationwide network of educators, all linked by Discovery Education. It's FREE to join, so (if you haven't already), JOIN TODAY!
In addition, teachers who want to take the next step in their own professional development can sign up to be Discovery Education Network "Stars." Signing up is free, and your obligation as a "star" is to share technology ideas with colleagues at least twice each year. Simple! And the benefits to being a "star" are impressive! For more information on the DEN or on what it takes to be a DEN Star, check out the Discovery Education website, visit with a colleague who attended ASTE this year, or contact Tammy. |
